Training

The CFS is built on the efforts of volunteers. To help us to work safely and efficiently, the CFS provides ongoing training, with certain aspects being nationally accredited, to point where volunteers can reach a professional level.
Base level training, required for all responding personnel, incorporates:

• Weekly Brigade Training
• BFF1: Basic Firefighting 1
• Skills Maintenance Drill No. 1 (Annual Burn-Over revision)

There are various levels of specialist training that members may elect to undertake, enabling the member to become proficient in the many facets of CFS duties.

Firefighting

• Suppress Wildfire
• Plantation Firefighting
• BA: Compressed Air Breathing Apparatus
• Compartment Fire Behaviour
• LPG Defensive Workshop

Rescue

• Senior First Aid
• Advanced Resuscitation
• RCR: Road Crash Rescue

Leadership

• Frontline Leadership (open to all members, but officer oriented)
• Tactical Command and Leadership
• Strategic Command and Leadership
• ICS Sector Commander

General

• Operate and Maintain Chainsaws
• Check Installed Fire Safety Systems
• South Australian Government Radio Networks
• AIIMS: Australasian Inter-service Incident Management System
• IRIS Operator
