Training - Senior First Aid

Units: HLTFA301B: Apply First Aid

Senior First Aid is usually delivered by St. John Ambulance Australia, with CFS organised courses run throughout the year. One-day refresher courses are also available. Pre-course material includes an interactive CD-ROM presentation covering the course material (view the interactive presentation online [requires Adobe Flash Player]).
The course covers important aspects such as identifying and dealing with Hyperthermia (heat stroke) and heat stress, obtaining consent, stabilisation of wounds and bleeding, applying CPR, De-fibrillation and (sometimes) EpiPens. Some courses also touch on extricating a casualty with an spinal injury from a vehicle.

Required for RCR training.
